Stop Paying High Electricity Bills! Unlock the Full ₹78,000 Subsidy with Expert Support from Swayog Urja
The Government of India’s PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is the biggest-ever push for residential solar, offering a huge subsidy of up to ₹78,000 and the promise of up to 300 units of free electricity every month. This scheme is a game-changer for homeowners across India, especially in rural and semi-urban communities where reliable power and cost savings are paramount.
But how do you navigate the paperwork, select the right vendor, and ensure you get the full benefit?
As a solar company focused on delivering reliable, affordable, and sustainable solutions, Swayog Urja has broken down the entire process into 5 simple, high-impact steps. Follow this guide to secure your future of free power!
Step 1: Check Your Eligibility & Calculate Your System Size
Before you apply, you need to ensure you meet the basic criteria and know what size system to apply for.
Eligibility Check:
- You must be an Indian citizen.
- You must own a residential house with a suitable rooftop for panel installation.
- You must have a valid electricity connection.
- You must not have availed of any other central government solar subsidy previously for the same system.
Maximum Subsidy Slab (Up to ₹78,000):
The subsidy is directly linked to your current electricity usage:
| Average Monthly Consumption | Suitable Solar Capacity | Maximum Subsidy Support |
| 0 – 150 units | 1 kW to 2 kW | ₹30,000 to ₹60,000 |
| 150 – 300 units | 2 kW to 3 kW | ₹60,000 to ₹78,000 |
| Above 300 units | Above 3 kW | ₹78,000 (Capped) |
Step 3: DISCOM Approval and Choosing the Right Vendor
This is the most crucial step where expert guidance saves you time and stress.
Feasibility Approval (FA):
After your application is submitted, your local DISCOM will review your request and conduct a site inspection to check your roof’s suitability and load capacity. Once approved, you will receive a Feasibility Approval (FA).
Swayog Urja’s Advantage: Hassle-Free Liaising
Many applicants face delays at the DISCOM stage due to complex regulatory compliance and technical requirements. Swayog Urja provides hassle-free government liaising and ensures your project design aligns with DISCOM, MNRE, and international codes. We handle the bureaucratic hurdles so you don’t have to.
Vendor Selection:
You must choose a vendor that is registered or empanelled with your DISCOM to remain eligible for the subsidy. Swayog Urja is a registered vendor, offering you proven expertise and branded trust for your residential installation.
Step 4: Installation, Net Metering & Commissioning Certificate
Once approved, the installation phase begins:
- Installation: Swayog Urja installs your system, which includes high-quality components and robust services like electrical design (Single-Line Diagrams), civil/structural design, and STADD analysis (for structural integrity validation).
- Net Meter Application: Once the installation is complete, the vendor (Swayog Urja) submits the plant details, and you apply for a Net Meter through the portal. Net metering allows you to earn credits for any surplus electricity your system generates and exports to the grid.
- Final Inspection & Certification: The DISCOM will inspect the installed system and net meter. Upon successful approval, a Commissioning Certificate will be generated on the portal.
Step 5: Claim Your Subsidy and Start Saving!
The final step is the most rewarding.
- Submit Bank Details: Once you have the Commissioning Certificate, log back into the portal and submit your bank account details along with a cancelled cheque.
- Subsidy Disbursement: The government subsidy (up to ₹78,000) will be credited directly to your bank account within 30 working days.
How Much Will You Save?
For a typical household consuming up to 300 units a month, installing a 3 kW system under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana promises an assured saving of approximately ₹15,000 in a year. Your household will save on electricity bills (approx. ₹1,800-₹1,875 per month) by generating its own power.
Swayog Urja is committed to helping rural and suburban communities achieve these massive savings. From start to finish, we offer end-to-end solar energy solutions, including a WiFi-enabled monitoring system and robust maintenance services to ensure your solar future is reliable and truly profitable.
